APPLE’s iPad

Once again…APPLE has shocked the world with the revolutionary technology that has placed mankind a step closer towards interstellar exploration and colonization…Ok, maybe I’m just being way ahead of myself. Nevertheless the latest device from APPLE is a cool device indeed and a very futuristic-like device if I might add.
The iPad..(not to be confused with sanitary pads) is a tablet computer. Unlike other tablet computers, the iPad is the only device so far that can be truly called a “tablet computer”. It has a height of 9.56 inches, a width of 7.47 inches, a thickeness of only 0.5 inch, weights only at 1.6 pounds, has an awesome, vibrant 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED backlit widescreen MULTI-TOUCH display…and with a sleek design as well as a user friendly interface, iPad is truly the definition of a “tablet computer”.
First of all, lets head over to the tech specification of the iPad. The iPad comes in two flavors, the iPad WiFi model and the iPad WiFi + 3G model that will soon be released in March for the 1st model and April for the later. Both models will come with a 1GHz Apple A4 processor, WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n) capability as well as a Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR which is great since these days, device connectivity is like the essence of life itself. Nobody can live with a device without WiFi or Bluetooth and especially the Internet in this present world, which is actually rather disturbing.
Imagine if suddenly the Internet is no longer available..OH NO!! NO FACEBOOK?! NO TWITTER?! NO PORN?! Yes..all life will cease to exist.LOL.
Now back to the iPad. The difference between the two models is that the later has 3G capability featuring UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800,1900 MHZ) which enables users to make VOIP calls. Yep..FRING and SKYPE will be your best friends if you plan to make your iPad into an oversized iPhone.
The iPad also comes with a built-in 25 Whr rechargeable lithium-polymer battery which is I believe, will satisfy your thirst for battery power and will be able to last you with up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music. It also has a built-in stereo speakers, a microphone, a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack as well as a SIM card tray for the WiFi + 3G model. Yes, you can watch your favorite porn silently by using a decent headphone.LOL.
There will also be plenty of space on the iPad, with it’s up to 64GB flash drive, you can store all your favorite music, photos and videos for you listening and viewing pleasure. Overall, the iPad has a decent spec considering the whole idea of the iPad is for you to have a more glorious experience surfing the internet, checking your email, blogging and all whatever it is you do in the internet, on the go. As I mentioned, the iPad is an oversized iPhone with nearly all the same functions but with a bigger screen.
Now, the comes interface. The iPad’s interface (like most APPLE devices) is a simple, easy to use interface. If you are familiar with Mac OS X and iPhone OS 3.1, well you will feel right at home. The home screen has the famous dock with four likely frequent applications that you will access, Safari, Mail, Photos and the iPod. There are also other icons on the desktop that will bring you to other options and applications installed such as your system settings and the application folder.
With it’s MULTI-TOUCH display, its super easy to navigate your way around. All the MULTI-TOUCH functions are available which are great especially if you are browsing through photos and also browsing the internet. Based from what I’ve seen on the iPad, I’m very much interested in the ON-SCREEN keyboard. It’s practically the same size as a normal netbook keyboard, only that it’s a touch screen keyboard which I think is awesome.
Despite being a cool and awesome device, the iPad has limited functions compared to the MacBooks or even the iPhone. Again, as I mentioned, the iPad is only good for internet connectivity on the go. If you need a mobile workstation, your best bet is to get either 1 of the many MacBook models or if you need a phone, get an iPhone. If you only want to browse the internet, check some emails, blogging, feel good about yourself holding an awesome/cool/futuristic device in your hands in public, solve lots of quantum physic equations and beam your friends and family up to your spaceship like Scotty in Star Trek as well as have lots of money to spare (especially here in Malaysia, the iPad is roughly going to cost you RM3,000 per unit) then the iPad is your best bet.
So far APPLE has already released the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta for developers to develop applications and games for the iPad. In time, just like the iPhone, the number of applications and games for the iPad will grow.
How awesome is the iPad and how well will it be received the public in terms of functionality and productivity? Well, for now, we’ll just have to wait for an actual full review on the iPad once it’s officially released in the market.
Nevertheless,
” APPLE is really taking us a step closer to the future. Its continuing mission: to explore awesome new technologies, to seek out new possibilities and new ideas, to boldly go where no other company has gone before…tuuu..tududuuu..tududuuuuuu..tudududuu..duduuuu..tududuuuuuuuu…”
With that remark written on my blog, Steve Jobs…please give a free iPad. Pretty please?

So Far So Good

Me at 5am.
1st February 2010..Federal Territory Day. A public holiday for all Malaysians living and working in the Federal Territory..in this case, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
Yea, unfortunately, I’m forced to come to the office to update a website which was supposed to be updated last week but, due to some busy schedule on the 3rd party, the updating work was postponed to…today..The Federal Territory Day.
I woke up at 3.30 am this morning just so I can hitch a ride with my housemate who is also working today. Luckily for me, I’ll be done as soon as I update the website I’m designated to work on and he will work till late in the evening.
Well, I’m done updating the website and now just waiting for the whole KL to wake up. I plan to visit Lowyat Plaza later. Not planning in buying anything but just to do some window shopping.
After everything that had happened the past two months or so (previous rented house got broken into, got into a car crash and end up paying 4k, moving to a new rented place, in the process of buying a car), I’m facing a slight budget constraint.
Anyways, as I previous mentioned on my previous post, I’m looking forward to a better year in 2010. Pray that my lucky star is not dying on me..yet.
Last weekend, I had a great time. My girlfriend had come to visit me in KL. She came along with her older brother Dayton, his girlfriend Michelle and his best buddy Willy.
I was so happy to see my girlfriend again. We managed to spent time together and had fun by just being together. Too bad she had to fly back to Kuching yesterday. I truly wish I could just leave KL and go back home along with her. Well..easier said than done.
Now, I’m really looking forward to go home to Kuching this coming Chinese New Year. My favorite holiday season. I’m half Chinese (on my mother’s side) so I’ll be celebrating CNY with my family as usual. The best part about the upcoming holidays is that I’ll be seeing my girlfriend again and we will be spending Valentines Day together for the 1st time. Yes..for the 1st time. After four years in our relationship, this will be our 1st Valentines Day together. Previous Valentines Day, we were apart. Last year I was in KL and she was back home, then the years before that she was still studying in Johor Bahru as I was still working in Kuching. So I bet this year’s Valentines Day will be awesome.
I’m also looking forward to be getting my own car soon. MY OWN CAR! BUYING IT WITH MY OWN MONEY! Yea, I’m excited. I never planned to get a car that soon and especially now but unfortunately, I’m forced to get one. My new place is too far from where I work and going about to work will be difficult. Public transportation is an option but even that proved to be difficult as the nearest commuter to my place is at least a kilometer away.
HOW AM I TO WALK FROM MY PLACE TO THE STATION, ONE KILOMETER AWAY, EVERYDAY??!!! SIAO AH??!!!
Once in awhile, yea, that wouldn’t be too bad but everyday? So..the only solution now is to get my own car. I plan to get the affordable Perodua ViVA EZ 1.0 with automatic transmission. I’d prefer the manual transmission but with the traffic conditions in KL, I would need legs and feet made of steel! Now it’s just the matter of time till I get my car. Just waiting to proceed with the paperworks.
So, a new year, a new place and soon to have a new car (can’t say anything new about work though), things are going well so far. I just pray and hope that things will go as smooth as possible for me this year and the years to come. So far so good!
GOD if you are reading my blog. Show me mercy!

Back To Nokia!

Wow, the mobile phone industry has evolved very fast over the past few years. Back then, it was the flip phones that took the world by storm, then the swivel phones and then the slider phones. Now, touchscreen phones are the “In-Thing” in the mobile phone trend.
Well, to be honest I’m very much fascinated with the touchscreen phones and have been planning to get 1 as well. I have always fancied the Iphone 3Gs but unfortunately in Malaysia, Iphones are very pricey. I am currently using a Sony Ericsson W610i which is a great phone but I need a new phone anyways. :-p
First of all, I want a mobile phone that has a good solid interface that works and doesn’t lag. I dislike interfaces that jerks a lot when you are scrolling or browsing through them. I also want a good decent music player, preferably with the option to boost up the bass. I would also like a good decent camera with at least 3 MegaPixels and also a phone that supports various applications. Touchscreen and WiFi capabilities would be an extra for me.
After using the Sony Ericsson W610i for 3 years now, I believe it’s time to go back to Nokia (I owned the Nokia N-Gage QD before switching to my current Sony Ericsson).
I always do a lot of researching before buying anything as I believe it’s important for you to find out as much as possible about a product before you buy them. After a good long research on mobile phones, I finally made a decision to get myself a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic (as shown in the picture above). I discovered that it’s the only affordable touchscreen mobile phone which has everything I need. The phone itself looks great and with a price tag of RM900.00++, it will not burn a hole in my pocket.
Sorry Sony Ericsson, it seems Nokia has won me back.
Now, the only thing is to save up cash as I plan to get 1 by the next few months. I will definitely do an UNBOXING and a REVIEW on the phone soon.
Also, if you ever need to research on the latest mobile phones as of what are their specs, ratings and reviews, you can always click these links below. These are my favorite sites that I usually visit.
www.gsmarena.com – A Great site about mobile phones. Full Specs, Ratings, Pictures and Comments on mobile phones ranging from popular brands to brands that you’ve never even heard of.
www.mobile88.com – Another great site where you can find out roughly, prices of mobile phones in Malaysia. The site also provides reviews, even downloadable applications, themes for your mobile phones as well as videos.
www.youtube.com – I usually search for hands-on reviews on the products that I’m planning to get. I used to view tons of MacBook Pro UNBOXING and REVIEW videos before I got one myself.
So check them out if you are also planning to get a new mobile phones. Google is a great start for any research for any product.
Just remember to always do a full research on any product you are interested in. By doing so, you will know the worth of the products that you want and later on decide whether you still want to purchase them or not. In the end, you save yourself from regretting over spending money on something worthless.
